ATTENTION WATER CUSTOMERS
The time has arrived. On Monday, July 21, the Town’s water plant operations will shut down for approximately two months in order to perform the necessary maintenance and improvements to resolve issues with organics and disinfection byproducts. Earlier this year the Town Board of Commissioners approved a contract to replace the internal components and filter media of the water treatment plant. Since that time, the parts have been fabricated and delivered for installation. Additionally, the Town has been working with engineers to design and install a powder activated carbon (PAC) system to reduce total organics and improve taste and odor. The Town Board has also authorized extensive maintenance on the ground storage tank. Town staff has been working closely with the City of Concord to ensure that the connection to provide water to Town of Mount Pleasant customers during the plant rehabilitation works properly and provides adequate water for usage and fire flow during this time period.

TOWN NEEDS THE ASSISTANCE OF ALL WATER CUSTOMERS
While the connection with Concord will be able to provide adequate water for regular usage, the cost to provide the water during this time period will be higher than the amount that it costs for the Town to produce water for its customers. Additionally, tank levels are being constantly monitored to ensure that adequate water is available for both usage and fire flow for both Concord and Mount Pleasant. The Town requests that water customers exercise voluntary conservation efforts and limit water usage to what is absolutely necessary during this time. Please avoid the following, if possible:
• Filling pools (avoid peak daytime hours, fill at night)
• Washing cars
• Watering of lawns
• Washing off driveways
• Letting water run while brushing teeth or washing dishes
• Taking long showers (try to keep to five minutes or under)

The Town greatly appreciates its water customers’ patience as it completes these much needed improvements.
